In recent years, Mariana Machado has collaborated with different performers, theaters, and cultural centers, exploring the relationship between body, space, and movement through performance photography. As the resident photographer at Beursschouwburg, one of Belgium’s leading cultural centers, she has documented various acts and artistic presentations, and part of her work has been commissioned by Workspacebrussels, further expanding her involvement with the performing arts. These are some of the photographs she has created for these cultural centers in recent years.

"My intention with performance photography is to go beyond documentation. Through the gesture of interpretation and translation, I seek to create images that not only freeze a moment in time but also evoke the flow and intensity of a live performance. I try to approach this type of photography with a cinematic sensibility, aiming to create sensations of narrative, rhythm, movement, and at times, tension or relaxation. In this way, each photograph becomes an extension of the artistic expression itself, giving it new visual life."
